Synplant VSTi Review – Genetic synths with DNA

Ok it sounds weird but this is really a synth that you grow sounds from. You can prune and tune, modifying the internal dynamics as you grow in order to quickly shape the sounds you are after. The core of the interface is the Synplant bulb:

spbulb

In combination with the DNA dynamic controls  there is and intuitive path for morphing around it’s soundscapes. In the words of the creators:

Create

The purpose of this product is to move focus away from the sometimes intricate and difficult process of sound synthesis and instead let you develop sounds by simply using your ears. You will find that creating synth patches with Synplant will be as easy as listening and deciding what you like and then having the sounds evolve in the directions you desire.

Here is a sample video of what it looks like in action:

I love this synth, thought yall might enjoy checkout out the 3 week (of actual use time) completely functional demo. :) You can grab that here:

Try It

For evaluation purposes you are allowed to try Synplant for up to three weeks with full functionality. The trial begins the first time you open Synplant in your host sequencer. Synplant then only subtracts weeks from the trial time when you actually use it.

Synplant is a plug-in that require a host application that supports VST 2.4 or Audio Unit 2 plug-ins. If you do not have a host application you can still try out Synplant by downloading a free host such as VSTHost for Windows or VSTLord for Mac.

About the Author

My name is Charles Macnish. I’ve made 28 trips around the sun so far, and I currently find myself running all over this place called Earth. I enjoy everything about being alive. Happy or sad, I am ecstatic about the opportunity to experience all of what life has to offer. I love creating possibilities from abstract concepts that can be brought together to create new realities. With my own music and helping others find a way to create and share their music. I enjoy bringing people together to enjoy the transcendent experience of music which rises above pride, ego, politics, religion, language, and other illusions of duality. I spend most of my time creating sonic frequencies and putting together abstract ideas concerning eastern philosophy and quantum theory. I’m very much looking forward to a future resembling one laid out in Ray Kurzweil’s “The Singularity is Near”, in which humans combine with created non-biological intelligence to surpass our current biological limitations of evolution. The best way to predict the future is to invent it.
