Soundcloud
Soundcloud is an amazing social network style website that is primarily designed for producers/musicians to share their work with one another and collaborate using an intuitive graphic user interface with a sexy design. Even with my own site to host material I still use it because of the sleek API which can be easily embedded into your other real estate around the net.
Here’s a peek at what the Soundcloud API looks like:
Once you are are a soundcloud member you can upload your songs and mixes with full control of what will be private, public, downloaded, streamed, availalable for widgets at lower fidelity etc. You are also provided with an embeddable drop box, where other artists can literally drop songs to you, either from their hard drive or those already posted onto Soundcloud. There is an easy to use friend system where you can “follow” artists to receive updates about their new uploaded projects, as well as a fully integrated personal messaging system.

We’re a few people who moved from Stockholm to Berlin, found some more cool people there and set up a small company to create the best dedicated music site in the world.
As you might expect, over the years we’ve grown tired of getting emails with YouSentIt links or FTP log-ins just to be able to check out our friends latest soon-to-be released tracks. Not to mention how annoying it is to try and email a reply with some comprehensible feedback. Music is just kind of tricky to deal with over email. So, we thought we’d change that. SoundCloud is our way of doing it.
